What is a COPE Course?
COPE stands for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. It comprises group initiative games, low course elements and high course elements. Some activities involve a group challenge while others test an individual’s skills and agility. Participants climb, jump, balance and swing their way to creative problem solutions though a variety of different activity problems. Group activities are ideal for emphasizing group synergy, developing trust, and leadership skills. The activities are not designed to be competitive but to stress the goals/objectives of Project COPE.
Project COPE Level 1
Level 1 Project COPE (Low Course) is a series of increasingly difficult challenges. The challenges are designed to enhance group and individual traits such as self-esteem, decision making, problem solving, trust, teamwork, communication, and leadership. Opportunity is provided for every participant to achieve success as an individual and as part of a team, and to have the thrill of a lifetime.
This program is available for anyone who is at least 12 years of age or has completed the 6th grade by the date of participation.
Level 1 includes Initiative games plus the low course elements of Artesian Beams, Wild Woosey, Spider’s Web, The Wall, Trust Fall, and Nitro Crossing. The Zip Line (High Course) will also be included.
Project COPE Level 2
Level 2 Project COPE (High Course) provides each participant an opportunity to achieve success as an individual and as a member of a team. The challenges are designed to enhance group and individual traits such as self-esteem, decision making, problem solving, trust, teamwork, communication, and leadership.
This program is available for anyone who is at least 13 years old, by January 1 of the year of participation or has completed the 7th grade.
Participation in the Level 1 program is required to participate in the Level 2 Program. Level 2 Elements are the Balance Beam, Skywalk, Monkey Walk, Flying Squirrel, Burma Bridge, Zip Line, and Pamper Pole.
Who Participates in Project COPE?
Project COPE is a great tool for improving employee moral, communication, and teamwork. It is ideal for school, professional groups, business leaders, and governmental agencies as well as clubs.
Each group that uses the course has a custom program designed to address their specific needs. A minimum of two instructors are assigned to each group. These instructors will contact or meet with a group representative before you even arrive at the course to discuss your group’s needs, concerns and questions.
What Do I Need?
All equipment is provided by Project COPE. We suggest that you wear comfortable “long” pants and a long sleeved shirt (loose enough to allow freedom of movement but not baggy enough to catch in the equipment) and a good pair of athletic shoes or light boots.
